2015 marks the 15th annual STARS Photo Competition, sponsored by Cosmetologists Chicago (CC). Since 2000, hairstylists who want to show their best creative work to the world have enthusiastically embraced the STARS photo competition. Winners of the STARS photo competition are among the best of the best—established salon professionals, and first-time competitors — all with drive and ambition. Stylists can compete individually or as a team, and in as many categories their portfolio supports.
The 2015 STARS winners will receive cash prizes and a trophy to display. Entries are judged on technical merit, execution and suitability of the styles to each category, as well as concept and overall approach, by a select panel of industry leaders.
The deadline for STARS entries is February 13, 2015.
The STARS competition, open to licensed professionals, offers hairdressers a wide variety of competition categories, including:
- Makeover Expert
- Makeover Rising Star – for a student professional who has been in the industry for 5 years or less
- ColorAmerica Colorist of the Year
- Hair Fashion Visionary – Avant Garde
- Texture Champion
- Men’s Look Champion
- The Leo Passage Gold Trophy
In addition to winners in each separate category, one participant among the STARS entrants will be awarded the Leo Passage Gold Trophy, honoring the late founder of Pivot Point International. This special trophy will be presented to the top-ranked professional with entries in two or more STARS categories. The scores earned by each entry will be combined to determine the overall Leo Passage Gold Trophy winner. The Leo Passage Gold Trophy winner will receive $1,500 and one complimentary hotel night stay in Chicago during the America’s Beauty Show weekend.
One winner in each of the 2015 STARS categories will receive:
- $750 plus a trophy from Cosmetologists Chicago
- Recognition by their peers
- Images featured on www.americasbeautyshow.com
The Makeover Rising Star will receive:
- $750 plus a trophy from Cosmetologists Chicago
- Images featured on www.americasbeautyshow.com
