Carmen Marc Valvo’s Spring 2015 collection was inspired by 1950’s Hollywood glamour a la Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis and even Cary Grant. Reminiscent of the cinema, the collection featured classic silhouettes with subtle details in shades of silver, black and white.
To further play out the glamour of the 50’s, L’Oréal Professionnel Artist Jason Backe of Ted Gibson Beauty, incorporated a silver streak. Says Backe, “I knew this soft, side-swept chignon paired with a bold silver hue would perfectly complement old Hollywood drama." For the everyday woman, this eye-catching streak of color can be wearable off the runway. According to Backe, “The look steps away from soft and neutral spring tones to a more playful and statement making style.”
Backe used L’Oréal Professionnel Dia Light, an in-salon demi-permanent haircolor to create the silver streak. “The technology in DIA ensures a beautiful deposit of color with amazing shine,” says Backe.
Hair was then styled by Ted Gibson who created the side swept chignon with a deep side part and volume at the base. The chignon was secured into a rose-like shape and held in place with a flexible hold hairspray. To finish, pieces were pulled out loosely at the heavy side part, providing a softness to the silver streak.
