The Capozzi & Co. Salon Shear Runway Project 2014: Alice Goes to Oz

The team at Capozzi & Co. Salon recently announced its 6th annual Shear Runway Project, themed "Alice Goes to Oz," to be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Patchogue New York's Emporium.

This year marks the third time that the show will benefit America's VetDogs (Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind), which provides service/companion dogs to disabled veterans. Last year, the runway show was attended by 300 people, raising over $8,000 for the charity. Says R. Anthony Capozzi, owner, "No funding for these guide dogs is provided by our government - money solely from donations goes to pairing these dogs with a disabled veteran. More importantly, what I am very proud of is the awareness my salon has brought to this cause."

For the show, the staff is given the Shear Runway Project theme a year in advance. They are then required to create hair, clothing and makeup for the show, all while keeping the theme in mind. They are then judged on execution and connection to the theme, among other factors.

The professional event includes DJ's, professional lighting and staging, MC's - including a Choreographer - and live video feeds to allow guests a close-up view of the runway. This year's professional judges include a Hair Technician on the set of the Broadway Musical "Wicked," a representative from Wella/Proctor Gamble, and a husband and wife Team of Liquid Hair Salon.
Teams compete for two distinct awards, The Capozzi & Co. Salon Judges Choice Award ($500) and The Capozzi & Co. Salon Audience Choice Award ($250).

"Alice Goes To Oz" is being held on Thursday August 21, 2014 at Patchogue New York's Emporium at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at 631.589.1133 or at the door. All proceeds go to America's VetDogs.
