Enhance Natural Beauty with the Perfect Tint

These days, there are very few women who haven't played around with the color of their hair. “Most women color their hair – sure, to cover grays, but also just for fun and fashion – especially with all the vibrant new colors and ombré,” says Boom Boom, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar. However, clients who are going for a new look on their locks may want to consider adjusting the color of their brows as well. Adds Boom Boom, "When hair color changes it impacts the arches, so it’s a good idea to tweak them when you change your hair color."

Tinting is the best way to change brow color, plus it makes brows look thicker and longer. Below, see some of Boom Boom's tips for altering brow color in order to best enhance your client's natural beauty.

  • Go darker versus lighter to frame and define eyes.
  • If hair and skin has natural warm tones, stick with a warm tone; same for cool.
  • Use a brow powder or pencil to add length and width.
  • Never lift brow color – when hair grows the regrowth will show.

For Blondes:
Blondes tend to look washed out when brows are not defined. Choose a color that’s a tad bit darker than natural hair color to make eyes pop.

For Brunettes:
There’s nothing better than full, rich, beautifully shaped brunette brows – they are the envy of all. Liz Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Madonna… need we say more?

For Redheads:
Do not match brows to the hair on the head. You need a slight contrast, so go a little darker to spice things up. You want the brows to blend in with the overall look, not stand out as a sidekick to your client's mane.
