Wella World Studio Opens in NYC

Last night, Wella North America celebrated the grand opening of Wella World Studio in the artistic community of SoHo. The move from Rockefeller Center to the bustling, artistic community of SoHo ushers in a new era for Wella education. Known for elevating technical mastery and unleashing the talent of stylists from around the globe, The Studio is now making its mark as a modern haven for hairdressers; a place where they can tap into their creativity and achieve technical excellence through world-class coaching for every stage of their career.

“SoHo is a center for the arts community in New York City,” explains Wella North America’s Vice President of Education Fabio Sementilli. “We moved not only to join that community and become a resource for it, but also to be more accessible to our artists and more in touch with what inspires them on a daily basis.”

The loft-style, 11,000-square-foot space boasts a new atelier design esthetic for Wella, with upgraded technology and flexible learning spaces. The fully convertible space can accommodate up to 100 students, with three practical areas and a 60-person theater complete with a 16-square-foot video screen, stage and catwalk.

In addition to the state-of-the-art educational programs, the space will also be home to business-building networking events, photo shoots and social gatherings for stylists to connect with the artistic community in New York City.

To celebrate the move, The Studio is revamping its core class curriculum to add fresh, art-infused inspiration through the addition of several brand-new course offerings. A sampling of new classes includes:

Watercolor Techniques for Haircolorists:Discover how to become a haircolor artist through new and varied watercolor techniques, unique color combinations and textures. A guest watercolor artist will demonstrate how the art of watercolor can be translated into haircolor techniques, working side-by-side with one of The Studio’s top educators.

Color.id Creative Atelier:Liberate old behaviors and reflect on new ways of approaching color application through artistic applications. Learn the magic behind the most impressive and breakthrough technology in hair color today, Wella’s “InvisiDivider”.

Razor Mastery with Jason Schwind: Learn to create textured lines, soft graduation and light amplified layers, giving a modern touch to classic shapes with a straight razor and guard.

Stitching a Shape with Claudio Lazo:Use a needle and thread not only to create shapes but to produce visual effects and train your eye to see shapes as you sew. This innovative teaching method will allow styles to flow with both texture and softness.

Social Slam Live & Building Your Brand in the Social Age:Grab your devices for this interactive, hands-on workshop showcasing the proper way to build and utilize the most popular social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and make social media easy for even the novice user.
