PBA's North American Hairstyling Awards Honors Dwight Miller with 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award

One of the most esteemed photographic beauty competitions in North America, the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), honors top hairstylists and beauty professionals. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the hair and beauty industry and is limited to licensed salon professionals. This year, the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is proud to recognize internationally acclaimed World Master Hair Designer, educator, artistic director, executive and salon owner, Dwight Miller with the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is considered to be NAHA's highest honor recognizing exceptional contributions to the advancement of the hair and beauty industry. As a stylist, educator, salon owner and past NAHA Artistic Director of the Year winner, Miller has ventured to create innovative trends and techniques that constantly transcend benchmarks in beauty.

Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1964, Miller chose a career in the professional beauty industry. Now celebrating 50 years in hair, Miller is one of the most admired hair artist's within the professional beauty industry. He has been at the root of every major change in hair fashion and technique, such as the Sculpture Pin Curl of Marinello-Comer in Hollywood. He has influenced industry changes from his stack perm in the 70s, to the many trends throughout the 80s, 90s and the present. As owner of Salon Santa Fe in Santa Fe, N.M. and co-founder of V LV T® Salon/Academies, Miller encourages stylists to do what they love the most and to keep bringing their creativity to life.

Miller is a man of firsts: first styles director for Marinello-Comer, first artistic director Pivot Point International, first American Vidal Sassoon - London, first Agency for Platform Artists - Hair Artist Institute & Registry. Today, Miller is best known for growing many hair care companies in the U.S. and Asia.

On top of his business endeavors, education also plays a large role in Miller's life. Systems produced by Miller including Pivot Point's Sculptic Cutting Program in 1975 are the basis for training students around the world. He is also the author of the cutting system in the Milady Standard II (1997) and the Master Cutting System (2000), both of which continue to be instrumental in educating students today. In addition to education, Miller also actively participates in charitable initiatives, spearheading Boston Children's Hospital 'HAIRraising' fundraiser and has raised over $200,000 within the salon/hairstyling community. Miller's lifelong hard work, spirit and generosity have solidified him as an icon in the professional beauty industry.

Miller will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's NAHA Awards Ceremony on July 13, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas as part of NAHA's 25th Anniversary Celebration.
