Hair stylist Brandon Christmas of A Cut Above Hair Design in Sumter, SC recently created this fun, colorful hairstyle for a client. Get the how-to for the look below!
Cut:
#4 guard clipper on sides for a Mohawk sectioning leaving wispy sideburns. Mohawk texturized with razor.
Color:
Wella Blondor, Matrix Color Sync, and PRAVANA Chromasilk Vivids.
Lightener (applied to top Mohawk and wispy sideburns):
Blondor + 20v. Process to a level 9 (client's level was a natural level 6).
Matrix Color Sync - 3vr + 10v. On sides (leaving out sideburns).
PRAVANA Chromasilk VIVIDS - (colors were formulated to client's choices although any shade can be chosen or made):
Purple: 1/2 oz. purple + 1/2 oz. pink + 1/2 oz. clear
Magenta: 1 oz. PRAVANA magenta
Sky Blue: 1 oz. clear + 1/2 inch blue
Lime Green: 1 oz. yellow + 1 inch green + 0.5 oz. clear
Color Application:
Starting at the back base of the mohawk, foil diagonally-sliced sections in an alternating pattern between PRAVANA VIVIDS color selection. Christmas' tip: "Rinsing with luke warm/cold water really seems to help lock in the color for me."
Style:
1. Blow dry with It's a 10 Blow Dry Volumizer to give the mohawk lift.
2. Spray with Redken 10 Wax Blast to define texture.
3. Finish with Redken 23 Forceful Finishing Spray.
