NYFW Hair: Beautiful Blowouts at Ruffian by Catwalk by TIGI

The fall 2014 Ruffian Collection drew inspiration from medieval textiles and painting with the bold, innovative and flamboyant silhouettes of the Glam Rock movement. The collection combined these elements with the juxtaposition of Opulence and Street, Aristocratic and Pop, and Earnest and Outrages for an overall luxe, sophisticated and cool array of looks.

To complement Ruffian's 2014 direction, Catwalk by TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin created an "expensive" look with a slight curl, volume at the crown and a blown-back hairline. The overall effect was a gorgeous, "proper" blowout.

Get the Look:
1. Mist dry hair with water and, sectioning hair, spray roots generously with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Root Boost Spray. Using a round brush, blow dry hair straight with a slight bend at the ends, lifting hair at the root and blowing back at the crown.

2. Next, divide hair vertically into 4 sections and spray each section with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray. Using a 2-inch barrel curling iron, curl hair horizontally to the nape of the neck and spray again before unclamping and removing the iron from the hair without unraveling. Set curl with a duckbill clip and spray the Work It Hairspray once more.

3. After hair has cooled, remove clips and brush smooth with a flat brush. Lightly tease roots at the crown with a fine tooth comb and brush back using a flat brush.

4. Using your fingers, scrunch hair from the bottom to break up the length for a natural movement. Finish with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray.
