Create this Oribe Inspired Manicure!

In honor of the launch of Oribe's new Intense Conditioner for Moisture & Control, editorial nail artist Miho “Mei” Kawajiri designed a manicure inspired by the packaging. In Tokyo, Mei owned her own nail salon, Foxxy Nail Salon, where she offered an omakase service, a term borrowed from Japanese cooking. Omakase is an expression used at sushi restaurants where patrons leave the selection of fish up to the chef. Similarly, Mei’s clients trusted her to create whichever design she wanted.

Just one year ago, Mei moved to New York City and quickly became a rising star in the nail industry, with a client list including Swarovski, Jill Stuart, Harper’s Bazaar, Miu Miu and La Perla, to name a few.
“My signature style is geometric, abstract nails,” says Mei, who opted against creating a literal interpretation of the ombré bottle and instead chose to play with the variation in colors for a more graphic design.
Get the Look:

1. File nails into desired shape and clean up the cuticles. Mei suggests a rounded square for this look.
2. Apply a basecoat. Mei suggests Butter London Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat, which has a nude tint and smooths tiny ridges and imperfections in the nail.
3. Apply one coat of Knackered by Butter London, an iridescent opal shade.
4. Using a turquoise hue with a slight shimmer, create a V shape. Mei used the teal shade from the Noble Spirits collection by The New Black. Repeat this step and apply a second coat.
5. Line the V with the Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint Polish in Gold Glitter.
6. Create a thick French tip with a dark, charcoal grey. Mei suggests Snake it Up by Essie, which has a subtle shimmer.
7. Finish with a topcoat like Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
