Hair Trends: Done and (Un)Done Hair on the Spring/Summer 2014 Runways

The 2014 Spring/Summer fashion runways displayed an array of highly designed styles, including wild prints, over-the-top shoes and extreme looks. In order to balance out this high fashion, hair stylist Guido for Redken aimed to create simple, easy hairstyles.

According to Guido, “hair color was a key component this season. It makes a huge impact on the runway, and in some instances it’s the style itself. Young designers today are looking for chic, cool styles—and one way to do that is through hair color. When color looks artificial on purpose — like a platinum blonde, jet black or vibrant red — it really elevates a simple style.”

One dominant hair trend, as seen on runways such as Alexander Wang, Versace, Margiela, Louis Vuitton and Lanvin, was grunge and rocker-inspired looks. These deconstructed styles exude an element of done versus un-done, as well as a prominent rocker-chic vibe.
