Macadamia Natural Oil, a premium, professional hair care manufacturer based in Chatsworth, California, recently elected John Maly, in addition to Lori Krebs and Jack Gallagher, to the company’s Board of Directors. John Maly will further add continued support along the sides of Ms. Krebs and Mr. Gallagher and help strengthen Macadamia’s leadership team through his industry knowledge and distribution experience.
Maly grew up working in a family business known as Maly's—a distribution company in the Midwest recognized as an innovator within the salon industry. Maly graduated from Indiana University with an Accounting degree and acquired his CPA through Deloitte Touche in Chicago. From his past experiences in the beauty industry, Maly saw an opportunity to help salons with accounting and finance. Maly started his own accounting and consulting business for salons and only two years into this venture, was asked to run a small distributorship Maly’s purchased out of Los Angeles. For the next 18 years, he able to grow the small local distributorship from $2 million to $200 million in sales. In 2007, L'Oreal acquired Maly’s Los Angeles distributorship to begin building its own distribution network, which today is known as SalonCentric.
Since the sale of Maly’s distributorship, Maly has spent most of his time focusing on his cosmetics company, Mirabella, which sells makeup within the professional beauty industry. In addition, John has purchased several companies with his own Private Equity group called The People Fund, and owns two restaurants and a brewery called Wolf Creek.
