We seem to be enthralled with just about anything having to do with celebrities: the latest relationships, newest projects, even their trips to the supermarket. No doubt their questionable fashion choices make for juicy reading.
From the hideously amusing to ferociously mistaken, let's take a look at some of the more ridiculously clothed celebrities of 2012. I mean, seriously, what were they thinking?
Claire Danes' Ugly Canary-Colored Dress
If she was trying to hide her baby bump, it didn't work. At the Emmy Awards, the petite "Homeland" star opted for a strapless Lanvin number that hung on her like an oversized trash bag. She went two sizes too big and that shade of yellow didn't work, either. She would have been better served by wearing something with a flattering silhouette like tube dresses or gaucho pants. Both are hot right now.
Zooey Deschanel's Pixilated-Looking Dress
Deschanel looked like a pixilated, hot mess at the Golden Globes. Perhaps she chose the quirky Prada gown to match her offbeat personality, but with its silky black bottom and emerald green glass beads on top, she missed the mark completely. The only thing she got right this night was her stunning hair and makeup.
Amy Poehler's Looks-Like-Grandma Dress
Funny woman Poehler definitely looked funny at the Golden Globes. Her pale 3/4-sleeved, floor-length dress blended into her skin; add the comedian's pale blond hair, and the effect was blah and chameleon-esque. The red carpet looked more intriguing than she did.
Melissa McCarthy's Ill-Fitting Dress
Plus-sized McCarthy is smart, beautiful and funny, and she usually makes better fashion choices than this berry-colored Marina Rinaldi gown that she wore to the Oscars. It simply didn't flatter McCarthy's curves in any way. You can do better, Melissa.
Nicki Minaj's Beyond-Ugly Bodysuit
The singer donned a sheer and snug Versace black lace bodysuit adorned with red beads that formed a corset-looking top to the VMAs. Then she paired it with a bright yellow wig and black leather cap, and her Louboutin shoes didn't even match. We all know the rapper loves attention-grabbing lyrics and outfits, but this one has no redeeming quality. It should be burned immediately.
Jordin Sparks' Too-Short Dress
Sparks undoubtedly thought the ensemble she wore to the Teen Choice Awards looked like something teenagers are wearing nowadays. They are. However, no adult woman should try to pull off this silky, cheap-looking black dress, with its low-cut top and floral-patterned adornment. The scrunchy, bunched-up bottom made her look like a dying flower, too. Sorry, Sparks.
Miranda Lambert's What-Were-You-Thinking Outfit
Lambert snagged the CMA Female Vocalist of the year, but her on-stage wardrobe choice had us all questioning her fashion sense: too-tight black leather leggings with a kooky, colorful top that looked like it was made from recycled gum and candy wrappers. This one was particularly hideous for the usually well-dressed country star. -Brenda Robbins
