Wella Professionals sent some of the best hair pros in the business to Boston Fashion Week, and the looks at this years’ shows in Beantown were all braids and buns. While these looks aren’t going anywhere, they are reaching new heights.
The braid trend manifested itself with a few new twists at the first few days of shows, styled by Wella Top Artists Jason De La Torre, Igor Vasilijuk and Franco Cannatella. The girls' braids were woven like baskets – some ended cleanly and abruptly and others swooped and swirled around the head. The stylists noted that they first began braiding, then figured out what they’d do with it – playing with direction and, of course, “lots of pins and Wella Dynamic Fix hairspray!” said Mr. De La Torre.
Furthermore, there were buns galore. From the 20’s inspired finger weave buns by the creative direction of Top Artist Frank Michael Shortino to higher-than-life teased top knots by Top Artist Nicole Obert, the stylists were able to show tremendous talent and innovation with their take on the modern style. Nicole said of her super-chic buns that they were “organized chaos” while Michael was inspired by the flapper-era to add just a pinch of pizzazz to an everyday staple.
