René Furterer Master Class: On Stage 101

On the first results show of American Idol season 11, Lauren Alaina, the season 10 runner-up, stepped back into the spotlight in true southern-belle fashion. Performing the rocking country single, “Georgia Peaches,” from her debut album, Wildflower, the singer took the stage in a one-shoulder, shimmering pink frock while showing off new platinum blonde locks styled in big, loose waves.

The creative master behind her bombshell hair look, celebrity stylist Michael Kanyon of Celestine Agency, was inspired by the queen of sultry “bedroom hair,” Brigitte Bardot. “Adding a little Brigitte to a hairstyle always makes it a little sexier,” says Michael.

Michael takes us behind the scenes for how he achieved Lauren’s fierce style for her triumphant return to the American Idol stage:

-Starting on wet hair, I applied a touch of René Furterer VEGETAL SCULPTING GEL to roots for long-lasting volume.

-After blow-drying hair I lightly sprayed on René Furterer OKARA radiance enhancing spray before giving hair a final brush-out. This helped to mask split ends and create healthier-looking hair.

-Next, I worked a small amount of Sebastian Molding Mud through Lauren’s hair before using a 1-inch curling iron to sculpt soft, sensual waves.

-Finally, I misted hair with René Furterer GLOSSING SPRAY just before Lauren stepped onstage. It adds a mirror-like shine to make hair look amazing under studio lights.
