Check out inspo from our followers for Strawberry Blonde hair looks and get a tutorial for creating the color from hairstylist Alyssa Salmon (@thehairwaytoheaven).
Fall is approaching, which means coppers and reds are making a comeback. But with summer being all about blondes, there's a shade that is a perfect option for clients ready to make a gradual hair color transition: strawberry blonde. This shade is a light copper that is closest to a golden blonde. It's a bit of an abstract color that can be customized in various ways to best suit your client, depending upon whether they want to lean more towards copper or blonde or have an even mix of both! Your favorite editor (me) has even adopted this color this year and is planning on keeping it for the long-term! Here, we share some sweet strawberry blonde inspo and a tutorial, so you can be prepared to create some radiant looks this fall!

Long Island, NY-based hairstylist Alyssa Salmon (@thehairwaytoheaven) is no stranger to strawberry blondes, having created this gorgeous color for her client paired with a long cut!
"Red hair is TRENDING.... but so is blonde," Salmon shares. "My client is actually my older sister, and she has been blonde her entire life. We are both equally in awe of those natural red heads and have always dreamed about creating the perfect in-between for her. With people embracing warmer tones this year, we felt this would be the perfect time to incorporate the strawberry blonde."
I began this process by giving her a soft, dimensional highlight. She had come in with about 2 inches of regrowth, and I wanted to break that line of demarcation up, as well as keep her as bright as I could. Being this was a bigger transition for her, I chose to use highlights as the foundation of this project, so overtime she would fade into a soft golden blonde.
Her natural color is between a 6-7, so I did this whole process using only 6 and 10 volume, bumping up the developer towards the front. I pulled the foils when they reached a pale yellow but not quite level 10. I wanted to keep as much warmth as I could without it being too yellow.
On damp, towel dried hair, I applied Wella Shinefinity 7/34, 8/34, 9/73, 7/59 and 00/00 in equal parts, beginning at the root first, then blending everything down mid to ends. I let this process for about 7-10 minutes. If you are looking to slightly shift your client's base color, I would recommend Wella Color Touch instead, as Shinefinity is zero lift.
