Q&A:

Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?

Alyssa DeBlasi (AD): I love cooking! I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and exploring different cuisines — it’s exciting to be creative in a whole different art form.

BLP: How did you get your start in the industry?

AD: I got my start in the industry about 10 years ago, thanks to my dad’s hairdresser. He was looking for an assistant, and my dad immediately said, ‘Hire my daughter!’ That’s how I started — sweeping floors, washing hair and learning the basics from the ground up. Over time, I worked my way up, honing my skills and eventually becoming a stylist. That experience taught me the value of hard work and truly understanding the industry from every level.

BLP: Who is someone you consider a mentor/role model in the industry?

AD: Honestly, I consider myself my biggest mentor. I’m so focused on my own growth that I don’t spend much time following others in the industry. Instead, I challenge myself daily to be better than I was yesterday, constantly learning, refining my skills and pushing my creativity!

BLP: What is your proudest achievement in the industry thus far?

AD: My proudest achievement in the industry so far has been opening the first head spa in all of South Florida and seeing it thrive. Building something from the ground up and being booked out seven months in advance is an incredible feeling. It reflects the growing demand for head spa services and the dedication I’ve put into creating a unique relaxing experience for my clients.

BLP: What is your favorite piece of advice you’ve been given by a fellow industry/hair pro?

AD: One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is not to compare your journey to others. It’s so easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, but focusing on my growth and path has been the key to staying true to my goals and passions.

BLP: What is a hair tip/technique you’ve learned that’s helped you be more efficient/successful behind the chair?

AD: Repetition: Time is the best teacher. The more you repeat certain techniques, the more natural they become. It’s all about practicing until the movements feel instinctive. The more you work on something, the faster and more precise you get.

BLP: What is your favorite hair trend currently?

AD: Definitely the head spa! I love the relaxing aspect of it and the health benefits it provides. It’s a great way to nourish the scalp, relieve stress and promote overall hair health. People are becoming more aware of the importance of scalp care, and it's exciting to be part of a trend that encourages self-care and relaxation. Plus, the results are visible – healthier hair, a more relaxed mindset and a sense of rejuvenation. What's better than that?

BLP: Who or what inspires your work?

AD: My family, especially my husband and kids, are the driving force behind everything I do. Without them, I wouldn't have the same sense of purpose or motivation to keep pushing myself forward. Their support and love are what keep me grounded and focused on my goals!

BLP: What changes would you like to see in the industry to better help hair pros grow and thrive?

AD: The business side of the industry, like managing finances, marketing and operations. This can be challenging, and no one really talks about it. While we often excel at our craft, understanding the business side can make a big difference in success. As the industry continues to evolve with new techniques and trends, it’s important to keep enhancing our skills. You can never learn too much, and you’re never truly done learning.

BLP: What is a career goal you have for yourself?

AD: One of my key career goals is to expand my business by growing my brand’s presence and possibly opening additional locations. I want to create a space where both clients and professionals feel inspired and empowered. I also aim to become a recognized leader in the beauty industry, particularly in head spa treatments.
