On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, the Navigation Area Business Association (NABA) Shoes for Kids Organization held an honorary birthday luncheon for CEO, Basim Shami at El Tiempo Restaurant in the heart of the East End of Houston. At this luncheon, Basim Shami graciously donated $5,000 to the organization.

The NABA Shoes for Kids raises money to distribute new shoes to underprivileged children in the East End community during Christmas time. The Navigation Area Business Association founders Yolanda Black Navarro and Bill Flores created this organization over 27 years ago in order to give back to a community in need of a lending hand. According to Mr. Shami, “My daughter suggested that I do something for children for my birthday than my usual dinner party. This was truly a great way to give back to the community. I’m looking forward to bringing volunteers from Farouk Systems to help pass out new shoes to the children this December,” said Basim Shami.

Thanks to the generous donation from Mr. Shami and Farouk Systems USA, NABA Shoes for Kids will be able to purchase an additional 300 pairs of shoes for their event.
