Moroccanoil Educator, Alaina Montgomery brought bridal style and inspiration to salon professionals at the Sweis Academy, the education branch of Sweis Inc. Professional Salon & Spa Products Distributor in Southern California. During the education session she shared her wisdom on bridal consultations and business tools that pros can utilize to ensure the smoothest day possible for both the bride and the stylist.
Alaina presented gorgeous and distinctive bridal looks, transforming different curl sets into beautiful updo styles, from a glamorous Hollywood starlet inspired look, to a romantic Bohemian look as well as modern yet classic looks.
She shared several new techniques, using reverse French braids as anchors and using a crimping iron to achieve volume and texture throughout the style. French fishtail braids, a five strand braid and "ropes" or textured twists were demonstrated to the packed audience.
“If you are looking to put volume into very fine or limp hair you can use a crimping iron at the root to make it pop up, creating instant volume. This can be used as part of the style or hidden within the updo to act as a base or foundation,” explained Alaina. “By putting a very small reverse French braid anywhere along the scalp you can create a base to pin into. This is a great trick for anchoring a veil into place without having to use bobby pins.”
To create these looks, Alaina’s list of must-have products includes Moroccanoil Treatment and Hydrating Styling Cream, to control fly-aways and give the hair soft body. The Volume Mousse is perfect for creating big bridal hair and Heat Protection Spray is essential for protecting hair while achieving greater hold and shine. Glimmer Shine Spray gives the ultimate shiny finish. On updo styles, a beautiful reflective shine allows for the dimension of the style to really pop.
Salon professionals eager to recreate these looks can begin by determining whether a bride's style fits into a glamorous, romantic or classic style. Once the direction of the style is set, looks that are structurally solid, visually stunning and simple to create will be the ultimate goal.
