Holiday Hair How To: The Double Fishtail Chignon by Joico

For the fifth installment in the Joico Holiday Hairstyle tutorial series, glam hair expert Katie Bilovol created an elegant double fishtail up-do hairstyle. Perfect for a holiday dinner or party, the look goes gorgeously with a sparkly hair accessory and a fun, flirty skirt.

Get the Look:
1. Wash hair with K-PAK Shampoo and Conditioner to treat damaged winter hair. Blow dry hair with a large, round brush to create volume.

2. Loosely gather one section with your hands and split this one section into two. Spray with Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo to provide grip while you create the braid. Begin the braid by pulling a skinny strand of hair from the outside of the right section, pull it over the right section, then weave it under the left section. From the other side grab a strand and bring over to the other, continuing to crisscross hair to create a fishtail braid. Once you run out of hair, fasten with clear elastic and loop end of hair into the elastic. Repeat the previous step on the opposite section.

3. Create a chignon wrapping the two braids in a crisscross motion. Start with the braid on the heavy parted side and bring over to the other side, securing with a bobby pin. Repeat by taking the other braid, and bringing it to the other side, securing it with a bobby pin. Continue wrapping both braids over each other to create the chignon.

4. Mist hair with Power Spray to keep hair polished and free from fly-aways. To add a holiday feel, pin a sparkly barrette on the opposite side of the fishtail chignon.

Styling Tips: Femininity is on the menu with a lace top in Bordeaux, the year’s finest shade of wine. Paired with a fun, feathery skirt or slim black pants, plus sparkly bangles, and a glam hair accessory, the look is spirited and special.
