Three stars stood out at the 2012 Golden Globes, declares Joico Celebrity Colorist George Papanikolas:
Salma Hayek’s Dramatic Ombré
“I loved the way this modern ombre effect contrasted with Salma Hayak’s Hollywood bombshell waves,” says Papanikolas. To get the look, create a rich brown base, then backcomb horizontal sections and create foil highlights in the non-backcombed sections. After processing, tone with a light brown demi-permanent shade.

Sofia Vergara’s Soft Honey Ombré
The sexy Modern Family star is a perfect example of how a brunette can wear a lighter shade that flatters an olive skin tone says George. To get the look, create a chocolately and shiny base color with a medium brown demi-permanent formula. Then create large horizontal sections, backcomb each one and highlight the midshafts and ends to a golden blonde. Finally, tone all strands with a sandy blonde demi-permanent shade.

Charlize Theron’s Creamy Blonde
The star’s Gatsby-style headband adds sparkle to her headturning blonde shade. “This was my favorite red carpet look!” George declares. To get the hue, lighten the regrowth area one level, then create ivory highlights throughout the head, with particular emphasis on the face-frame area. Tone with a light ash blonde demi-permanent shade.
