Andis Foundation and Milwaukee Bucks Team Up for Barbershop Mondays

Andis Barbershop Mondays

Who wouldn’t want the chance to meet leading NBA players and receive a complimentary haircut? In February, the Andis Foundation, a Brookfield, Wisconsin-based charitable organization founded by Andis, teamed up with the Milwaukee Bucks to kick off “Barbershop Mondays.” Facilitated by Safe & Sound, a Milwaukee-based organization dedicated to building safe and empowered neighborhoods, the “pop-up” barbershop program provides complimentary haircuts for young men between the ages of 10-23 as well as the opportunity to meet some of the winning NBA players from the team. Along with the free haircuts and photo ops with athletic stars, the program works to foster an inviting setting for open dialogue and positive mentorships. “Conversations at our last event centered on how barbers started out in their profession and what success means to them,” explains Laura Andis Bishop, owner and co-president of the Andis Foundation. “Our hope with ‘Barbershop Mondays’ is that barbers can demonstrate to young adults that success is attainable and that they, too, can contribute to a vibrant community.”
