The Best of the Year: Our Favorite Celebrity Hairstyles of 2014

As the year draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about new hairstyles for the new year, but not without first taking a look back at some of the best looks of 2014. Celebrities paved the way for the biggest hair trends of the year, from bobs and lobs, to the new classic balayage; from intricate up-dos to rainbow-bright hues, and everything in between. It was a year of boldness, transformation and stand-out beauty, but these celeb looks truly topped our list of best hairstyles of the year!

1. Beyonce's Wavy Bob

At the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, Cate Blanchett epitomized Old Hollywood Glamour with an elegant, Grace Kelly-inspired hairstyle. [pagebreak]

At this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards, Amy Adams hopped on board the faux bob trend, but made the look her own with a more structured version of the look. A blend of classic and contemporary, the style was unique, stunning, and sophisticated. [pagebreak]

One of the biggest hair trends of 2014 was the "lob," or long bob, as seen on Taylor Swift. Swift's blonde waves make the look flirty and young. [pagebreak]

6. Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar's Up-Do

 


Since trading her long locks for a pixie cut, Jennifer Lawrence has sported a variety of hairstyles from ultra-short to mid-length, but our favorite look of hers was when Lawrence wore her recently-cropped 'do in a sophisticated, swept-back style at the 2014 Academy Awards. [pagebreak]

10. Nicole Richie's Lavender Up-Do at the MET

Kate Hudson amped up her signature blonde locks with subtle touches of pink. The best part about the new look? Hudson went pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, stating on Instagram, "In honor of my bestie Juliana, my assistant Kathy, my grandmother Laura, Mimo and all the people who are fighting and have fought breast cancer. After chopping her hair short and briefly tinging the ends orange for a movie roll, Kristen Stewart opted for a fresh, rocker-chic hairstyle. Short on one side and tousled on the other, the new 'do is one of the star's best of the year! [pagebreak]
