During the 1960s and 1970s Laurel Canyon became the home and inspiration to a vibrant Los Angeles music scene. Legendary musicians including Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison and Joni Mitchell embraced Laurel Canyon as a hub for their artistic process and as a social hang-out. Frank Zappa

Frank Zappa's bushy hairstyle fit in with the long hair of the scene, but it was his famous mustache that made his iconic look stand out. Zappa's mustache was even copyrighted by his family after his death.
