NYFW Get the Look: Simple Sophistication at Ostwald Helgason Fall/Winter 2014

or Otswald Helgason designers Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgasovery's first runway show, they wanted the models to essentially be blank canvases for the art‐inspired collection. The models walked down the runway with super simple hair parted down the middle that, depending on their outfit, was either floating behind their shoulders or put in a low ponytail. “It’s a very, very natural look,” said lead hairstylist and Oribe Educator Ramona Eschbach. “We put the hair behind their ears, but I let a few strands come forward because I always think it’s nice when the hair has a little movement in a show,” Ramona said. “Even though it’s a really natural look, we had to get the texture consistent for every girl, and that’s where the products come in.”

Get the Look:
1. Part hair in the middle. Spray Oribe Foundation Mist from roots to ends. Add a small amount of Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil to the ends and comb through.

2. Blow-dry hair with hands, working the product in and twisting the lengths to create a slight wave. If you are working with curly or very textured hair, blow out hair straight with a Mason Pearson brush first.

3. Tuck hair behind the ears and let strands fall across the back. Allow for a few strands along the hairline to come forward around the face.

For the Ponytail: After completing the above steps, gather hair at the nape of the neck and tie tightly with elastic string. Use your fingers to rough up hair around hairline and ears to allow a few strands to naturally fall out of the ponytail.
