London Fashion Week: Nick Irwin for Catwalk by TIGI Creates Six Unique Looks

For the Fall/Winter 2014 season at London Fashion Week, Catwalk by TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin worked backstage at six top shows creating unique looks to complement the designers' latest collections. Here, Irwin gives the how-to for recreating each style.

Get the Look:
1. Spray Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo into dry hair to give an unclean look and feel.

2. Starting at the nape of the neck, divide the hair into 2-inch sections. Lightly coat with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hair Spray and back-comb tightly splitting each section into two.

3. Twist each section using a mesh hair net into a dreadlock. Repeat all over until the full head is complete.

4. Gather all dreadlocks together and secure with a clear band at the nape if the neck and a second band to secure the ends.

5. Finish the look with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray.

Get the Look:
1. On dampened hair, apply Catwalk by TIGI Strong Mousse from roots to ends and work through.

2. Working with small sections of the hair at a time, apply Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Salt Spray to the locks, working from root to ends. Loosely create waves through the hair’s length and clip in place to dry into shape. Repeat all over.

3. Once all waves are created and clipped into shape, lightly diffuse with a hair dryer. Remove all clips once dry.

Get the Look:

2. Divide hair into small sections. Starting at the neck and working up, iron each section of the hair so that it's poker-straight.

3. Create a middle parting, pulling each side section back and securing tightly at the nape of the neck with an elastic band.

2. Choose any area of the hair at random and begin braiding. Make sure to leave the end unfastened.

3. To add more texture, rough up the hair all over.

Get the Look:
1. Apply Catwalk by TIGI Strong Mousse from root to tip to dry hair. Using a bristle brush, brush the hair back, sweeping it away from the face. Add more mousse if needed. Be conscious to keep control over the hair and not to soak it.

2. Gently apply heat with a hairdryer whilst running your fingers through the hair and creating movement and texture.

3. Lift the hair close to the root at the front, keeping the sides flat. Ensure that the top layer of the hair does not sit above the rest of the hair and keep the hair compact so that no parting is formed.

4. Pull the hairline forward in natural waves and secure in place using small tiger clips until completely dry.

5. To finish, spray with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray to set the silhouette. [pagebreak]

Says Irwin, "The key to the look was choosing and styling the right hair extensions to suit each look’s inspiration – bringing the character to life. The whole thing is about high shine, blunt edges and accessorizing with pom-poms that clash with clothes. We used Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hair Spray to secure all extensions into place, whether it be plaits, micro-braids, waves or crimps.”
