Because of a rare genetic disorder that prevents her from gaining weight, 24-year-old Lizzie Velasquez has never weighed more than 60 pounds, but that hasn’t stopped her from achieving her dreams of becoming an author, motivational speaker, and college graduate. Last December, Lizzie spoke at the Austin TEDx Women’s conference in Austin, Texas. A video of her presentation has reached over 4 million views.
“How lucky are we that Lizzie has found a home in our Paul Mitchell Schools,” says Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Cofounder Winn Claybaugh. “She amazed and inspired our school owners and directors at our October Owner’s Summit, and she’s about to do the same for our Future Professionals at Caper 2014.”
Along with Lizzie, the superstar lineup for the 29th annual Caper event includes comedian and inspirational speaker Kathy Buckley and actor John Autry, plus world-class presentations and hands-on classroom rotations featuring top artists, educators, and artistic directors from inside and outside the Paul Mitchell world.
Held February 10–12, 2014, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the smoke-free, alcohol-free, hands-on educational extravaganza will draw roughly 2,500 students for two days of nonstop education, motivation, inspiration, and fashion.
