Trend Report: Janell Geason at Aveda Congress 2013

Inspired by the success of Aveda's seasonal makeup palettes, Aveda Artistic Director for Makeup Janell Geason created a series of brand new looks for the Aveda Congress 2013 stage, including limited edition makeup collections for spring, autumn and holiday. Though all of Geason's looks were stunning, the true highlight was a bejeweled smokey eye crafted with rich plums and sparkling grays from the Himalayan Holiday palette.

According to Geason, "The holidays are the perfect time to take your everyday makeup look a bit over the top… this bold eye and lip combination is perfect for a night out."

Geason's models were dripping with crystals as they walked the runway, which beautifully embellished the sparkling holiday colors in each look. Says Geason, "Adding crystals is an easy way to add a hint of glam and fantasy to any holiday look."

Get the look with this easy step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Prep the skin with Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme to increase radiance.

Step 2: Apply skin-matching shades of Inner Light™ Mineral Tinted Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 15, Inner Light™ Concealer and Inner Light™ Mineral Loose Powder for a flawless complexion.

PRO MAKEUP TIP: Apply concealer with the Flax Sticks™ Special Effects Eye Contour Brush for an airbrushed finish.

Step 3: Prep the lids. Apply Snowcap* to the inner corners of the eyes and along the bottom lash line.    

Step 4: Apply Plum Twilight* in the center of the lid from lash line to crease and in the center of the bottom lash line.

Step 5: Apply Nepali Night* in the crease and to the outer edge of the lid.

Step 6: Dampen a disposable eye shadow applicator with Color Options™ Eye Shadow Transformer. Dip the applicator into Nepali Night*, and apply along the lash line to just past the crease for a liquid liner effect.

Step 7: Highlight the area just under the brow with Gilded Sun*.

Step 8: Apply two coats of Mosscara™ in Black Forest to the top and bottom lashes.    

Step 9: Apply Snow Lotus* to the apples of the cheeks.

Step 10: Line and lightly fill in the lips with Nourish-Mint™ Lip Liner in Plum Petals. Apply Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Winterberry over the liner. Finish the look by lightly applying Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Himalayan Snow* to the center of the lips.
