Reason I became a hairstylist:
Growing up I developed a love of art at a young age. I loved painting and using my hands and mind to create. As I became a teenager, I started to fall in love with the world of beauty and fashion, so when I discovered hairstyling, I knew it was the perfect profession for me. Now, whether in the salon or on set for a shoot, I get to use my love of art and creativity each and every day.
Best advice I ever received regarding my career in hair/beauty:
Do the kind of hair you find beautiful, work to develop your own style and believe in what you do.
Best advice I would give to a new hairstylist starting out:
Immerse yourself in your work, master the basics and dedicate yourself to your craft.
There are no short cuts. It will take some time to find your unique style, but the process and experience will pay off in the end.
Funniest thing that ever happened to me in a salon:
The beginning of my career was kind of a funny story. I wanted to work at this salon so badly that I kept on showing up at the salon to assist. Eventually, they had to hire me and start paying me. I still love the salon I work at after so many years!
