Beauty Industry Regulations: Green Chemistry Update

On July 27, 2012 the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) proposed new regulations under its legislative mandate to provide for Safer Consumer Products through the use of “Green Chemistry” to replace chemicals of concern. The chemicals of concern (COC) will be based on and include lists prepared by numerous domestic and international bodies that identify both existing and possible chemicals of concern.

PBA's Government Affairs Department has put together a webpage with extensive information regarding California's proposed Green Chemistry Regulations. This page is designed to provide comprehensive information regarding California's proposed Green Chemistry Regulations. Industry professionals can submit comments to PBA until October 11, 2012.  PBA Government Affairs Coordinator Bridget Sharpe will attend the hearing on September 10th in Sacramento along with partner organizations to represent the beauty industry and provide official comments.
