It’s no secret that stylists are visual people and Pinterest is a social networking match made in heaven for them, but some may not know about Pinterest’s “Secret Boards.” Patrick McIvor, Artistic & TechniCulture Director for Goldwell and KMS California, creates secret boards with ideas, looks, trends and tips and makes them public when the time is right.
“It’s a great way to manage information –they allow you three secret boards, meaning no one other then yourself can view them, and you publish them when you want,” say McIvor.
“It’s great for personal things like planning weddings and baby showers, and professionally, it allows you to promote colors, looks or styles that will be hot in the months to come,” he adds.
In January, McIvor created a secret board highlighting reds for February in celebration of Valentine’s Day. It included beautiful reds from the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, as well as red icons like Lucille Ball.
“Think about what an amazing tool this is, these boards can be used during digital consultations to show clients your work, spot trends, offer color and style options and inspire. And, with the secret boards, you can do it in your own time,” says McIvor.
