Calling All Makeup Artists Competition!

Are you a makeup artist bursting with talent—talent that goes beyond the salon and spa? Are you looking to brand yourself, your work and possibly your own product line? You may just be the next winner of Calling All Makeup Artists (CAMA), a talent showcase and makeup competition being held in New York City on April 30, 2012. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

First, what is CAMA? Sponsored by Xania Labs, a private label company, the competition invites six up-and-coming artists to learn photo-ready makeup techniques using a hands-on approach with editorial makeup artist David Maderich. “We give the participants the upcoming beauty trends for the following season (Fall 2012), as well as (private label makeup brand) Your Name Professional Brands’ upcoming seasonal collection of products to use, and each artist is also provided a model from our partner agency,” says Brenda Gallagher, Xania Labs director of sales. Artists then create two looks inspired by the Fall 2012 trends under Maderich’s guidance, and a photo shoot with photographer Roberto Ligresti captures the final looks. Finished images are judged by a panel of industry professionals—with this year’s panel including Launchpad Beauty Director Karie L. Frost!

Not only does the group of six get to take away two portfolio-building images from a top beauty photographer, but also one lucky winner is offered the chance for his or her winning shot to be featured in Your Name Professional Brands’ Seasonal Launch Catalogue, as well as a working relationship with PR firm Victory Public Relations.

“The main reason we launched CAMA was to create a platform for finding the next breakout beauty brand,” Gallagher says. “Your Name products are used by countless makeup artists worldwide, and the brand has a stellar reputation for quality, innovation, and most importantly for its commitment to supporting its artists. Your Name truly forms a partnership with its artists to give them the tools and guidance they need to build a strong brand, making it a perfect partnership.”

Only six slots are open for the Fall 2012 Collection CAMA, so don’t hesitate to enter! Registration is accepted until April 2, 2012; visit CAMA’s Facebook page and LIKE it to learn more! —Karie L. Frost
