The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) just wrapped up their first ever virtual Executive Summit, with “The Road to Reinvention” as its theme.
In Part 2 of the Summit, Denise Herich, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of The Benchmarking Company presented on “The Road to Reinvention”. Denise Herich and the Benchmarking Company researched the patterns and behaviors of the beauty industry during Covid. They interviewed over 13,000 consumers and over 450 salon professionals. The study showed that 40% of women respondents pampered themselves more than ever to reduce stress, women spend more time online shopping, 34% of stylists shared that the pandemic made them reevaluate their career choice and 59% of stylists that are back at work report they are working less hours.

The panel discussion covered topics such as challenges during the pandemic, updating business models and growth opportunities in the future. Panelists concluded that salon and industry leaders must be authentic and flexible, frequent communication with clients is key, consistent messaging is key across all channels and digitalization is necessary in the industry.
