StyleSeat, an online booking service for beauty professionals, recently announced that seasoned engineer April Chang will serve as the company's new Vice President of Engineering, where she will oversee the engineering team.
“April was previously an advisor here at StyleSeat and with her impressive resume and skillset, we were so excited to have the opportunity to bring her on in a larger capacity,” said CEO and Co-founder Melody McCloskey. “April’s invaluable expertise will continue to help us raise the bar in delivering support to beauty artists and services across the nation."
As the Vice President of Engineering, Chang will construct the company’s mobile and online vision to best serve the brand’s customers and professionals. She will collaborate across all divisions of the company to adhere to the needs of all necessary audiences and partners.
Chang brings over 20 years of development, platform and marketplace experience to her role at StyleSeat along with a proven track record of leading teams through periods of extraordinary growth. Before joining StyleSeat, Chang developed the marketplace behind EventBrite, the self-service ticketing platform, while spearheading the engineering team and transforming its products from desktop to mobile. Prior to EventBrite, Chang led a team of 250 software developers at four global locations for PayPal. Chang earned her Masters in Computer Science from the University of Arizona.
“This is a seventy eight billion dollar industry and StyleSeat is such a unique platform in that it impacts everyone,” said Chang. “StyleSeat gives consumers the chance to book beauty appointments in over fifteen thousand cities across the United States. So no matter who or where you are there is a service for you. I’m looking forward to building out the engineering team and I plan to double our size within the next year.”
This announcement comes during a successful year for StyleSeat, and follows the announcement of $25M raised in a recent series B funding round. This year the company is on track to power over $1B in appointments booked as it continues to expand both internally and across the nation.
