Celebrity hairstylist, salon owner and product developer Ted Gibson will headline “Beauty Behind the Fashion,” presented by Bellus Academy at Fashion Week San Diego (FWSD) on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:00 p.m. at the La Valencia Hotel. Gibson is a perennial presence backstage at Fashion Week events around the globe. Gibson and his team will transfer their behind-the-scenes magic from Manhattan to San Diego, home of California’s biggest traditional fashion week and the venue known for launching the careers of several design ingénues.

On the heels of “Beauty Behind the Fashion,” Gibson and members of his team will offer a “ted gibson advanced academy” experience at Bellus Academy in nearby Poway, CA on Friday, Oct. 2. Gibson created the ted gibson advanced academy as a series of classes for professional hairstylists who aspire to elevate their technique and take their career to a new level. “I believe that education is how we feed our souls and our lives. Once you change your consciousness, you have the ability to change your career, your environment and your lifestyle,” Gibson commented.

Gibson will be joined by his partner in life and work, Jason Backe, one of New York’s most celebrated color artists. Other ted gibson advanced academy team members leading the Bellus event include Kitty Greller, director of color education for ted gibson salons, Linzee Katzman, a renowned expert at creating effortless women’s shorter haircuts; and Eric Rosado whose talents range from precision cuts to expertise with relaxers and extensions.

The Bellus Academy experience is the first ted gibson advanced academy to be presented in San Diego. Bellus Academy President and owner Lynelle Lynch engaged Gibson because of his commitment to education and his years of experience working with celebrities and fashion designers. “Ted appreciates the symbiotic relationship that exists between fashion and beauty; and we could not think of a more accomplished authority to showcase the fusion of beauty and fashion,” said Lynch, who has collaborated with Gibson on other initiatives to raise awareness of professional beauty education.

A limited number of ted gibson advanced academy experiences are available for professional hairstylists, including a morning-only and full-day program. All proceeds from the ted gibson advanced academy held at Bellus will benefit the Thirst Project, a “Beauty Gives Back” initiative to develop wells for people around the globe, spearheaded by Vidal Sassoon’s daughter Eden Sassoon.
