Frank Galasso never says no when he’s tending to Hollywood’s top coifs.

Between jet-setting alongside Kim Kardashian, tending to Barbra Streisand’s legendary locks at her SoCal home, and running his two frank.studio salons in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, how does Hollywood stylist/colorist extraordinaire Frank Galasso find time to breathe? “I don’t,” he chuckles, “but I always find time to tend to my clients.” And who might they be? In addition to Babs and Kim: Eric Bana, Calista Flockhart, Nelly Furtado, Nicole Scherzinger, Felicity Huffman, Emmy Rossum, Aaron Eckhart, and the list goes on!
“When you’re working with celebs, you must really tend to their needs, make sure their secrets stay just that—secrets—and always be there for them,” Galasso explains, detailing the lengths he goes to ensure his clients’ privacy. “At my salons, all the windows are tinted so that no one can see in,” he shares. “And the chairs are spaced far apart so that no one can eavesdrop on anyone else’s conversation. Of course, when you’re working with major celebrities, there’s always the occasional commotion.”
Commotion? “I remember cleaning out a brush at my styling station after working on Barbra [Streisand],” Galasso recalls. “Literally, people dashed across the room to try to pick up the stray strands that fell on the floor! I actually had to demand, ‘Give the hair back to me!’ It’s crazy sometimes.” Crazier still are the hours Galasso keeps in order to ensure his A-list clientele remains happy and well mane-tained.
“I have a 10-year-old son—I can’t tell you how many events I’ve missed,” he says wistfully. “You’re only as good as your last cut, and if you’re not there for your clients, they may find someone else who will be. That’s why I don’t have time to breathe…because I never say no!” —Alyson Osterman
