Hair News: Meet Great Clips' Camaro Winner

As part of Great Clips’ 30th birthday celebrations, the haircare giant gave away a 2012 Camaro to a 22-year-old single mom who says she needs the hot wheels to steer her life in a new direction. Karlie Bailey, from Boise, Idaho, won the car, worth about $50K, by entering Great Clips’ “Great Camaro Giveaway” contest.

Great Clips flew Bailey and two other contest finalists to the Great Clips 200 NASCAR Nationwide Race in Phoenix this past weekend. Bailey and the two other finalists each had keys to the Camaro but only one “lucky key” actually started the car. It was a hair-raising experience for Bailey who has a debilitating thyroid condition that requires a lot of medical treatment. She will use the car to go to doctor appointments, work and college.

“When I put the keys in the ignition, I was shaking with excitement when the car started,” says Bailey, who is used to driving her 5-year-old son in cars that are falling apart. “Now, every time we leave the house my son asks if we’re going to take my NASCAR! I want to thank Great Clips for this amazing experience and for giving me something so positive in my life that has brought me and my son so much joy!”

“We are thrilled to give back to the customers who have made us the haircare leader we are today,” says Rhoda Olsen, Great Clips CEO. “Thirty years ago we began our quest to change an industry; today we are the world’s largest, most recognized and respected salon brand and that’s all because of the wonderful and loyal customers, staff, salon owners, managers and stylists.”

The “Great Camaro Giveaway” is one of many exciting events for Great Clips that’s celebrating its 30th birthday this year with presents for its customers, corporate staff, franchisees and stylists. The Minnesota-based company has grown into an international icon with more than 3,200 salons in 150 markets across the United States and Canada.
