French Hairdressing Then and Now

On Sunday, June 8, René Furterer presented a look at French Hairdressing Then and Now with Marisol Suarez at the Avalon in Hollywood. The evening began with an exhibit of imaginative wigs created by Suarez.

After enjoying the gallery walk, guests viewed an inspiring runway presentation in French Hairdressing. Marisol demonstrated two looks: an avant garde look and a creation inspired by Brigitte Bardot's iconic style. Marisol guided stylists through the looks, sharing tips and product recommendations.

The evening closed with a cocktail reception and the opportunity to meet Francois Viargues, Vice President of René Furterer and Marisol.

The first look that Marisol demonstrated was an avant garde hairstyle. This style was inspired by a modern interpretation of the way Chanel piled up her hair—in a classic Gibson-girl style—when she was still the young Gabrielle Chanel, before morphing into world renowned designer Coco Chanel.

Products Used:

-Prep hair with René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing foam – no rinse (Marisol used almost a whole can.) and VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray – no rinse
-Generous applications of René Furterer NATURIA dry shampoo - Use as teasing and arranging the hair.
-René Furterer VEGETAL FINISHING SPRAY - Use for hold that still leaves hair touchable.
-René Furterer GLOSSING SPRAY - Use on the middle-parted hair in front. This achieves a contrast in textures, smooth and shiny in front and textured and voluminous in back. [pagebreak]

The next look Marisol created was inspired by Brigitte Bardot's iconic hairstyle.
