Dina Culotta, Artistic Director for Ladies and Gentlemen Salon and Spa in Cleveland, Ohio and Vivienne Mackinder art team member shares this raw and edgy collection. While Dina is usually drawn to soft "Victoria Secret" hair, photographer Abe Robinson, owner of Blind7 PHotography, tends to create work with an element of darkness. The team worked together to combine both worlds. The result was both glamorous and edgy at the same time!
Dina Shares Her Tips:
The model Emily has Simplicity extenstions in her hair. Dina says, "I love them. They are so easy to work with and the hair just looks so natural." Dina set the model's hair with a thermal setting spray and let the set cool. "I have found a lot of people rush to take the sets out to soon. which then can lead to frizzy, droopy curls," says Dina.
Once the makeup was done, Dina took down the set. She adds, "I have learned from the greats like Vivienne Mackinder and Allen Ruiz not to rush and miss something great when taking down a set. I worked with the texture and did a lot of finger teasing in the down styles. I also did not use a lot of hairspray. This way I could keep my options open whether up or down."
"Step back and look at the whole picture!" Dina explains, "When I did this I was able to see the airiness and softness. No helmets in 2013!"
