NYFW Hairstyles How To: Retro Vacation Hair at David Hart S/S 2014

When dreaming up his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, menswear designer David Hart was inspired by the photographs of Alfred Eisenstaedt and the golden age of tourism in the ʻ50s and ʻ60s, specifically in Hawaii. The resulting collection includes well-tailored suits and menswear separates in lush fabrics that showcase Hartʼs expert use of colors, which has become his signature. Lead stylist Kien Hoang for Oribe Hair Care wanted the hair to look natural, like theyʼd just been on holiday. “The hair is different this season,” said Hoang, who also styled Hart’s debut show in February 2013.

“It's more relaxed and the texture of the hair is more matte. I wanted the models to look as if theyʼd been lounging by the ocean while on vacation and are just about to get ready for dinner.”
