NYFW Hairstyles How To: Lela Rose S/S 2014

Ted Gibson and his team styled the hair for the Lela Rose show in The Studio at Lincoln Center.

Ted shares how to create the look:

“I absolutely love working with Lela – when we collaborate we always create something really special! For her Spring 2014 collection, Lela was inspired by the iconic curved lines and forms used by mid-century designer Arne Jacobsen. She used a lot of contrast of texture which gives the collection a futuristic feel. After seeing the collection I thought it would be cool to create something that wasn’t just romantic, but rather something that had structure and softness at the same time. This look is all about texture! To create this look, part the hair in a center part and blow dry using ted gibson build it blow drying agent to aid in adding texture. Next, I took a medium sized curling iron and curled the hair starting below the ears to create waves. The hair was then smoothed at the part with ted gibson fix it gel. Next, I back combed the hair with my fingers to create even more texture. I then rolled the hair into itself up to the ears, creating and inverted bob. I then pinned the hair with bobby pins and set it with ted gibson beautiful hold hairspray. I then finished the look by sprinkling gold leaf flakes onto the hair for a whimsical touch.”
