Best advice I ever received regarding my career in hair/beauty: Best advice was from my father before I started my career in hairstyling. He said that you work 8 to10 hours per day, come home for 4 to 5 hours, and sleep 8 hours a day, so most of your life is working and sleeping. So make sure your work is something that you enjoy, that way it will not feel like work but fun and enjoyment.
Best advice I would give to a new hairstylist starting out: Education is crucial. Graduating from Beauty School is just the beginning. Learn your craft inside and out, go to as many education events you possibly can. Focus on one thing at a time, for example maybe first it's color, then cutting and finishing, then hair dressing. Find someone to mentor you and learn as much as you can from them. Never stop learning, and enjoy making people look and feel good.
