Best advice I ever received regarding my career in hair/beauty: Never stop learning. Be a student for life.
Best advice I would give to a new hairstylist starting out: Seek out a great mentorship program, and don’t get discouraged. Don’t let your past define your future. Always do more than you have to and give 110%. Remember, you have to do more than you get paid for before you get paid for more than you do.
Funniest thing that ever happened to me in a salon: A good friend played a practical joke on me by hiring an actress to pretend she didn’t like her hair and to fall in the salon. The actress was argumentative during the entire consultation and service. It was a nightmare but turned out to be pretty funny when I found out it was a joke!
