Coco Rocha embodied punk rock couture at the 2013 Met Ball, an annual ball hosted by Vogue to celebrate the opening of the New York Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit. Coco was accompanied by Fausto Puglisi, creative director of world-renowned fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro.

To embrace the fashion world’s most anticipated red carpet event, Coco wore a one-of-a-kind Emanuel Ungaro by Fausto Puglisi gem-encrusted leopard dress with a sleek, edgy hair look designed by celebrity stylist Veronica Chu for Moroccanoil.

“Coco’s dress is stunning.  It is full of drama and excess—a perfect fit for the gala!  Because of the high neck, we avoided big, voluminous hair,” said Veronica Chu.  “We opted for a clean, low French twist ponytail accessorized at the back with the same firefly gems used on the dress. Coco usually doesn’t wear bangs, so we incorporated an extreme 'V' fringe to add a punk rock edge, completing the hair look.”

How the Look Was Created:

“I washed her hair with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, then prepped it with Moroccanoil Treatment to add shine and smoothness.

“Next, I applied one pump of Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse and combed it through with my fingers. I then lightly misted the hair with Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection.

“Using a Moroccanoil Round Brush, I blow dried the hair to make sure the ends were smooth and straight.

“Next I sectioned and flat ironed the hair for a super sleek look.

“For the fringe, I sectioned off the first 1/3 of the crown and cut the hair into a deep 'V' to ensure the tip was in line with her nose.

“Next, I applied one pump of Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to help smooth the hair as I pulled it back.  I then bent the hair into a low French twist.

“I secured her hair with bobby pins inside the twist, and let fall naturally into a low ponytail at the nape of her neck.

“I then misted her hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium for a flexible hold.

“To tie the look together, I added firefly gems just above the ponytail twist and then misted the hair again, this time with Moroccanoil Hairspray Strong to secure the hair.

“To finish the look, I used Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray to give the style a wet, shiny, punk rock texture.”
