Sexy Hair Launches Contest to Design Packaging Aimed at Breast Cancer Awareness

Sexy Hair is offering artists around the world an opportunity to design the look of its 2012 Special Edition hairspray cans as it launches its Caring is Sexy: Design Contest. The contest, beginning May 10 and accepting entries until July 1, will give artists from anywhere in the world - and at any skill level - the opportunity to design the company’s annual limited-edition packaging aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer. Proceeds from the Special Edition hairspray will benefit Sexy Hair’s nonprofit partner, Look Good…Feel Better.

“Through Sexy Hair’s Caring is Sexy: Design Contest we are encouraging artistic consumers – whether they be design students or professionals, or just have a creative passion - to showcase their skills for a good cause,” said Karl-Heinz Pitsch, Sexy Hair president and CEO. “To us, that is what sexy is all about.”

Five designers will be named finalists and will have their creative interpretations posted online for a two week voting process. A judging panel, along with an online “people’s choice” vote—tabulated on Sexy Hair’s website—will determine the winner of the Caring is Sexy: Design Contest. The winner will receive:

  • The opportunity to work with Sexy Hair’s in-house creative team and build his or her design portfolio
  • International recognition for their design
  • Sexy Hair product valued at $500

For every design submission received, Sexy Hair will donate $6 (up to $5,000) to its nonprofit partner Look Good…Feel Better, a national public service program helping patients struggling with the appearance-related challenges of cancer treatment. The special edition can will debut in spring 2012 to promote breast cancer awareness, and five percent of net proceeds (up to $40,000) from its sales will benefit Look Good…Feel Better.
