If you can’t beat the heat, embrace it. The hot summer day on which the show fell only added to the inspiration at Eckhaus Latta, which takes dewy to a new level. “It’s slept-in, a little more greasy than wet,” notes Key Hair and Creative Director for Sasson Salon Michael Forrey. To enhance texture, Forrey saturates hair with molding crème, going for an undone, effortless look that works on everyone. “It’s all about the individual,” he explains. “It’s this idea of adolescence; someone who’s went out and partied a little bit and woke up with a cowlick—or has been walking through the subway and little bits start to stick to the face—a little bit dewy.” To translate this look from the street to the catwalk, Forrey creates texture with a wig cap, and uses Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray throughout. He generously applies Sebastian Professional Molding Mud to the ends to mimic a morning-after moment, enhancing the natural texture of each model’s hair.
Makeup is pared down to match the elusive, perfectly undone styling. Make Up For Ever Beauty Lead Deanna Melluso begins by adding Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Grey to the waterline and upper lid. She mixes castor oil with Rouge Artist Natural in red, applying a light coat to the eyelid and tear duc, to exaggerate the slept-in (or, rather, overslept) look. “You went out the night before, you woke up and maybe you have a little redness,” comments Melluso. As for skin, it’s “clean and dewy,” which she achieves, interestingly enough, via castor oil. Eyebrows are left untouched; “it’s easy, undone, rockin’,” she adds.
