No matter what hair color technique or color you specialize in, every good colorist needs to have a toolbox of tried and true supplies and tools to help them achieve great work. This includes an applicator brush, hair color comb, mixing whisk, mixing bowl, balayage board and foils. We are going to talk about the latter, as Laura Frazier recently mentioned in reel on @beautylaunchpad that the textured side of foil not only keeps the foil in place but allows for oxygen to go in an out of the foil during a service to minimize bleeders and chemical burns. We recently asked our friends on Instagram what foils they use, and we were surprised to discover new, fun foil brands to talk about. Check them out!

1. Styletek's Foil Rolls

For my foil roll stylists, check out Styletek by Lucas Beauty's Foil Rolls. These 300 Ft. foil rolls come in a variety of colors (we love Tease Me Teal!), in both smooth and embossed options. The rolls also come in a dispenser box with blade for easy glide cutting, and the brand has free shipping over $75 and a flat rate below that. https://styletekbeauty.com

2. Paper Not Foil

If you are trying to make your salon more sustainable and green, there is an option for you. One of our readers turned us on to Paper Not Foil, a brand crafting "foils" out of stone that are reusable and degradable. The paper foils are said to have faster application time, and after they are removed, they can be hand washed or washed in the machine and reused. www.papernotfoil.com

3. Foil Me The Wildflower Foils

I stumbled on Foil Me Foils when it debuted its Love Letter Foil, a foil that read, "Your artistry reads beauty and confidence; you transform more than hair." Just like that, I was sold. Though the brand offers a selection of foil types, foil sizes and other supplies, its Wildflower Foil is my personal favorite for spring. These pre-cut foils are available in three sizes, and the design was hand-drawn by co-owner Emily Ciardiello. www.foilmefoils.com

4. Mane Ivy Magnum Foils

Mane Ivy is a line of hair care supplies founded by stylist Michelle Zeller to empower women after being behind the chair for 20 years. The Mane Magnum Foils are extra wide at 10.7 x 11 in. and are embossed to prevent slippage. They also come in a box with some cheeky language to make you smile during long services. https://maneivy.com

5. Foiled. Magic Maker

What are stylists, if not magicians for hair? You take the impossible and turn it into works of art all day, every day. I thought it appropriate that Foiled. designed its Magic Maker foils with a "You Are Magic" saying. Because, well, you are. These pre-cut foils are 5 x 11 inches, and stylists love their lightweight texture. https://foiledco.com

6. House of Foils House of Boots

When you arrive on the homepage of House of Foils, the first thing you see is "welcome home babe," and that's exactly how its foils feel. These pre-cut 5 x 11 inch foils are available in pattern such as checkers, bows, hearts and boots, because why not boots? https://houseoffoils.com
