Paris Fashion Week: Messy Ponys at Miu Miu

Miu Miu brought Paris Fashion Week to a close in a fun flashback to the ‘70’s with help from Redken Global Creative Director Guido, who styled a playful high ponytail for the runway. Using Redken’s Stay High 18 high-hold gel to mousse and Forceful 23 super strength hairspray to create retro waves, Guido’s “bad girl” look was the perfect finish to a grand Fashion Week finale.

“The Miu Miu woman always has a bit of a playful attitude to her. The look this season is kind of ‘40’s, kind of ‘70’s and has somewhat of a 'bad girl' feeling," said Guido. "I really overused my two main products, Redken’s Stay High 18 gel to mousse and Forceful 23 hairspray, to give it a lot of texture and a tougher feel. First, I created the ‘70’s-inspired sort of horn in the front, and then I created a messy center part with my fingers and pulled it up into a high ponytail. The finished looks has a lot of style, but the overuse of the products really gives it that funky texture, which adds so much personality and playfulness.”

Get the Look:
1. Spray Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry express primer all over damp hair and comb through.

2. Work a quarter-size amount of Redken Stay High 18 high-hold gel to mousse into hair from roots to ends.

3. First, blow-dry hair back, and then take one side of the hair and flip it over to one side.

4. Continue to blow-dry hair in the direction that it was flipped, while simultaneously spraying Redken Forceful 23 super strength hairspray for added volume and texture.

5. Create a pin curl on the right side, rolling hair toward the head just above the forehead to add lift.

6. Let out the pin curl once it has cooled an separate with fingers.

7. Create a messy center part so the lift and waves are visible on both sides of the head.

8. Gather hair into a messy, high ponytail and secure with an elastic.

9. Finish with a thorough mist of Redken Forceful 23 super strength hairspray to hold the style.
