Naomi Watts' Twisted Bun

Actress Naomi Watts warranted beauty accolades during the 52nd Annual New York Film Festival in Tribeca thanks to Macadamia Professional’s International Creative Director and celebrity stylist, Giannandrea. Watts was stunning in a pale-grey lace and silk tulle Gucci gown with hair styled in a romantic, relaxed, modern look that Giannandrea calls a “Twisted Bun.”

“I styled Naomi’s hair in a specific manner to accentuate the romantic feel of her dress and yet keep the look fresh and contemporary. The look was about modern glamour and femininity,” shared Giannandrea.

To re-create this look, Giannandrea recommends starting with damp hair and applying Macadamia Professional Volumizing Mousse throughout the root area and on the length - practically saturating hair with it. Dry hair in large sections using a large round brush.

Once dry, set hair with medium velcro rollers (for added volume) and spray each section with Macadamia Professional Control Spray and leave rollers in for 15-20 minutes before removing them. Giannandrea recommends brushing the waves – root to length – gently with a Macadamia Professional Paddle Brush.

Next, create a center part in hair and lightly back brush the crown area on top of the head. Giannandrea recommends adding a bit of Macadamia Professional Dry Shampoo at the roots only for extra “grip” if needed. Use a small amount of Macadamia Professional Whipped Detailing cream, emulsify in your hand, and run it with fingers through the hair.

Finally, pull hair back gently at he bottom of the nape and start to twist and shape into a soft, messy bun. Secure the bun with pins but be sure to let some soft pieces of hair fall loosely in front to frame the face (a bit of fly-a-ways are not only okay, they add to the deconstructed feel of the style). Use a 1-inch curling iron on front pieces for more curl/wave if needed. Hairspray lightly to finish the look.
