The first weekend of Coachella delivered unbelievable collaborations, and unbeatable hair looks.

Olivia Rodrigo took the stage with No Doubt, Renee Rapp performed with Kesha and Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter also made their debut at Coachella. For a weekend this epic, some iconic looks are naturally going to have to follow.

With festival season officially arriving, it's time to dive in to four hair trends that are surely going to be the talk of the town this summer.

Big Volume

Inspired by Beyonce's TEXAS HOLD 'EM, big volume is sure to be a defining hair trend this spring/summer. Your clients are going to want bouncy, gorgeous blowouts, like Paris Hilton sported as she stepped on stage with Vampire Weekend at Coachella. The look also included a black cowboy hat and some baby braids. Hilton was styled by Eduardo Ponce (@eduardoponcehair).

To bring this look to life, you are going to want a reliable blow dry brush and humidity-resistant hairspray.

Cowboy Copper

Cowboy Copper is making its return because of its desert-like shade. While this color has been a pretty persistent trend over the past year, the return of spring and summer means brighter shades and more clients wanting to go red.

If there's anyone known for making copper shine, it's Ice Spice, who sported her signature shade while performing at Coachella. Hairstylist Dijah (@dijahslayy) styled her slick, curly hair using styling products from göt2b.

You can follow a tutorial below to recreate the look!

How-To:

  1. Prep the hairline by applying göt2b glued Styling Spiking Glue to neatly slick back any baby hairs. This provides a smooth canvas for the wig cap.
  2. Next, secure the cap in place using göt2b glued Bonding Glue, ensuring a seamless blend at the skin and to keep the wig perfectly in place all day—no touch-ups needed, and it's gentle on the scalp.
  3. Once the cap is set and in a stronghold, use the göt2b glued Smooth & Hold Mousse, defining the curls and locking them in place.
  4. For the finishing touch, follow with a generous spritz of göt2b glued Blasting Freeze Spray to make sure the look stays intact and impeccable.

Braids and Bows

Balletcore and coquette aesthetics have been a defining trend for 2024, so it's no surprise that they have found a way to be incorporated into hair looks through bows and braids!

Olivia Rodrigo wore a braided updo as she performed with No Doubt and Gwen Stefani at Coachella. Clayton Hawkins (@claytonhawkins) created the fun and flirty look for Rodrigo.

Bangs

Whether its curtain bangs, birkin bangs or bottleneck bangs, this style is making a comeback! The look has been popularized again by Sabrina Carpenter, who made her Coachella debut with her new song "Espresso."

Scott King (@scottkinghair) created Sabrina Carpenter's Bardot-esque blowout for the festival using products from Joico.

How-To:

  1. To prep Sabrina's hair, King used Joico InnerJoi HYDRATE Shampoo and Conditioner
  2. Next, spray Joico InnerJoi HYDRATE Detangler for softness and Joico InnerJoi Sea Salt Spray for texture while the hair is still damp.
  3. Once the hair is dry, set and use Joico Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray
  4. After about 10-15 minutes, take the hair down and brush through. Spray Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher from roots to ends for some extra grit and volume.
  5. Finish off the look with Joico Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Spray to lock the look in to be stage ready!
