What’s Inspiring Cameron Kepford (@cameronkepford)?

Cameron Kepford is the founder of House of Heir in Davenport, Iowa, but for those that aren’t able to visit him behind the chair, he is best known for social media posts full of blonding, extensions and laughs. Kepford sat down with us to share what he needs everyday to do his best work.

1. Health

I begin everyday with water and wellness. I first found out about these magic vials from my favorite podcast ‘The Skinny Confidential.’ Supplying my body with the ultimate hydration allows clarity for my day! The more clear my mind feels, the easier I can envision a unique plan for my client!

2. Ambiance

It’s so important for me to be surrounded by serenity! I get to the salon before anyone else to set the tone of the day. I light an Air Cocktail created by my friend Matt Cawley (@mttcwly) from Pearl Street Studio (@pearlstreet_studio), put on the salon playlist that my husband/business partner Ramiro Kepford (@ramirokepford) curates and take in the art of the salon. We’ve invested in local artists to showcase their work within our space. Surrounding myself with others creations pulls out my best work!

3. Socials

I’m constantly absorbing content from my favorite creators (@hairbychrissydanielle, @kaylastaghair, @colorbycarlos, @realericvaughn, @randco, etc.). Learning from my peers is something that has made me blossom in this industry! Using social channels to learn and share with others in our industry can be career changing! Hair by Cameron Kepford and Grace LomelinoHair by Cameron Kepford and Grace LomelinoCourtesy of Cameron Kepford

4. Schedule Prep

As soon as my co-stylist @gracelomelino arrives, we organize the day. It usually consists of blonding and extensions (@lacedhairextensions, of course). We determine what our plan is going to be and how to maximize each guest in the chair. Adding excitement at the start of the day for each appointment as opposed to rushing in allows room in your mind for the overall experience.

5. Coffee!

Enough said!

6. Bringing Beauty

I like to make my clients feel safe and the best version of themselves. For the time that they are in the salon, they can forget everything around them and focus on feeling beautiful. Nothing is more inspiring than seeing someone feel 100% the person they want to be.
